Botulinum toxin, popularly known as Botox, is the best treatment for reducing lines and wrinkles in the upper third of the face. These lines include horizontal forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet. Although Botox works wonderfully to reduce these lines, it does not eliminate them, especially when the lines have become deep wrinkles or furrows.
Little known to most patients is that Botox works best to prevent the onset of wrinkles than to eliminate them once they appear. By keeping facial muscles relaxed from an early age, Botox can slow down the process of wrinkle formation. Therefore, if an individual begins application from an early age, he or she will not see any wrinkles until a more advanced age. Botox is FDA-approved for this purpose from the age of 18.
In this video, Dr. Gómez demonstrates how to apply botulinum toxin in a young patient to treat expression lines and prevent the onset of wrinkles.
