At what age can I start applying Botox?

The medical term for eyelid cysts is hidrocystoma. They are semi-transparent lesions that commonly appear on the eyes’ outer angle (canthus) or lower eyelid skin. These cysts are well-defined, round, and soft to the touch—most of the time, multiple lesions present in the same person’s periocular area.

Hidrocystoma has a soft capsule that contains the fluid of the cyst. In addition to holding the cyst’s fluid, the capsule holds cells essential for its growth. Therefore, if we drain the liquid, but the cyst capsule is left behind, the cyst will form again. This fact explains why so often hidrocystoma recur after simple cautery of the lesion. Only complete excision of the cyst capsule will ensure that the lesion does not reappear.
