Patients should avoid strenuous exercise after their eyelid lift surgery. Hiking in Costa Rica requires significant straining, which can cause more swelling and bruising after an eyelid lift. In rare cases, it may also cause the wound to come apart (wound dehiscence), requiring reintervention with new sutures.
