Swelling and bruising is expected after any surgical procedure. The eyelids are especially prone to bruising because of their rich blood supply. It will take anywhere from one to four weeks for the bruising to disappear completely; swelling may last up to 7 days, in average. You may work on your computer from home as early as day 2 after the surgery. If your job consists mainly of desk work, and you have your operation on a Friday, you may go back to work the next Monday. However, it is not recommended that you lift up heavy objects during the first week after the procedure. If you want to recover faster from your surgery, you can go to the “speeding up your recovery”* section of this website; there, you will find helpful information on how to recover quicker after your operation.
