The amount of swelling depends on the type of surgery that was performed. There will always be some degree of postoperative swelling, but the lower eyelids tend to swell more than the upper eyelids. Having said that, swelling lasts about a week to ten days in most cases. Some patients have more swelling than others and take longer to heal.
