If I start using Botox, do I have to keep applying it, and how often?Patients often make the following remark: I don’t want to use Botox because I don’t like having to apply it every so often for the rest of my life! Well, you can be sure that this is not true. You don’t have to keep using Botox after the first application, but the expression lines and wrinkles will come back if you don’t. Some people are ok with this, while others want to maintain a younger appearance year-round. Unfortunately, Botox does not last forever and you have to apply it periodically. The frequency of applications will depend mostly on your age and the depth of the wrinkles. A younger patient will do well with a couple of applications per year, i.e., every 6 months. On the other hand, if you have more pronounced wrinkles, you may need an application every 3 to 4 months.
