Is my eyelid surgery going to be painful?

Eyelid surgery is not painful. Local anesthesia is used in all cases to eliminate pain during the procedure. Some patients may prefer to be sedated during the operation to be completely unaware of the surgery. The postoperative course should also be painless, although some discomfort is to be expected. The first day after the operation it is normal to experience mild pain around the eyes. Significant pain is not normal and should prompt you to call your surgeon.
