Lower eyelid blepharoplasty, or simply lower blepharoplasty, is a plastic surgery procedure performed for aesthetic purposes to treat various features that give the eyes a tired and aged appearance, such as bags, wrinkles and dark circles. This procedure helps rejuvenate the eyes of a person who has started to notice the changes that appear with aging and that are due to laxity and loss of volume in the tissues of the eyelids and cheeks. Likewise, it can be performed on young men and women who have bags or dark circles due to a genetic-hereditary factor. Generally, the operation is performed on an outpatient basis under sedation and takes between 1 to 2 hours on average.
