Hard palate grafts are commonly used to correct lid retraction after cosmetic blepharoplasty. Mucosal grafts are necessary to address the most severe degrees of lid malposition. Their main indication is as spacer grafts for correction of middle lamella scarring. These grafts provide vertical height and firmness to support the eyelid following scar releases. Mucosal grafts are one element in the management of lid retraction and must be used in tandem with other procedures such as midface lift and canthoplasty.
