With very few exceptions, every region of the face may benefit from a fat grafting procedure, although some areas are better suited to its application than others. Facial units with more mobility, such as the area around the mouth, will have less fat “take,” meaning that a high percentage of grafted fat will likely reabsorb. Also, areas with a thin skin envelope, such as the eyelids, must be treated with extreme care to avoid complications. The success of the procedure does not lie so much in the anatomical region per se as in the surgeon’s experience and judicious patient selection.
