Will fat be removed from the upper eyelids?Only in cases that require it. Some people with loose skin (dermatochalasis) may also notice a bulge on the inner part of the upper eyelid. This bulge is made up of fatty tissue that protrudes through the muscle under the skin. In these cases, the fat is carefully removed during the operation, making sure to leave behind enough volume to avoid a “sunken in” appearance. If too much fat is removed, the eyes will look gaunt and empty. Not all patients require fat removal during a blepharoplasty. People with high eyelid creases or thin faces may not benefit from this maneuver. The goal is to achieve a natural and elegant result for each patient.
