The scalp incisions will not need stitches with the endoscopic approach; these are closed using stainless steel or titanium staples. The staples are removed in the office ten days after surgery. Staple removal may feel uncomfortable for patients but is usually less painful than sutures.
Open approaches, such as coronal lift or pretrichial, do need sutures. These are removed seven to ten days after surgery or are left to dissolve, depending on the suture material.
