Infection is a risk associated with facelift and mini facelift surgery. The infection can arise from the tissues underneath the skin flaps or surgical incision sites. Several precautions are taken during the operation to lower the probability of infection, and a course of oral antibiotics is given to all patients during the first postoperative week. If an infection ensues, it will require additional treatment and, in rare cases, hospitalization.
