ArteFacial, by Dr. Abraham Gómez, is a concept clinic whose mission is to provide high standard, quality aesthetic services using the latest technology in plastic surgery.
Dr. Gómez chose to settle in Costa Rica after specializing in Europe and the United States, seeking the ideal balance between his personal and professional life. Today, he is one of the few experts exercising this exciting subspecialty in Costa Rica.
As an oculofacial plastic surgeon, Dr. Abraham Gómez performs aesthetic and reconstructive procedures on the area around the eyes, mid face, and lower face, including eyelids, brows, cheeks, and chin. As an oculoplastic surgeon, Dr. Gomez also knows that any operation around the eyes can put eye health at risk; therefore, of foremost importance to him, in the approach of all procedures, is the integrity and health of the eye.
Until recently, plastic surgery in Costa Rica focused mostly on breast and buttock augmentation, and abdominoplasty, not so much on facelifts and eyelid surgery. Oculoplastic surgery was a branch of plastic surgery relatively unknown. With the training gained during his years abroad, Dr. Gómez desires to promote this surgical specialty in Costa Rica.
“It is imperative not to lose sight of the health of the eye when performing any cosmetic or reconstructive surgery on the face,” he explains. “That is why a specialty was created where the surgeon first specializes in the eye, and then in plastic surgery of the face,” he goes on to add, referring to his interest in the branch chosen for his profession.
At ArteFacial, the focus is on offering plastic and reconstructive surgery of the eye area, like removal of bags and eyelid lift, while also providing non-invasive facial rejuvenation procedures such as botox and dermal filler application.
“It is always a treat for me when I show patients their before and after pictures,” says Dr. Gomez, whose offices are located in Hospital Clínica Bíblica, San José, and Torre Las Loras, Curridabat.
